LeakyCon

Looking back, I realised we don't have an official post about LeakyCon. Unless I missed something (likely) or it got deleted (also likely).
If you don't know what LeakyCon is, let me explain. Ohohoho let me explain. Also give me a minute so I can cackle evilly for effect.
LeakyCon is a giant Harry Potter conference that takes place every year, and has been going on for three or four years (pfft, details.) It is run by the webmistress of leaky.com, Melissa Anelli. It has panels, wizard rock (Wrock), authors, actors, and so much more. This year, Evanna Lynch (Luna), as well as the actors who played Nigel and young James Potter. The Vlogbrothers will be there, as well as the inimitable Maureen Johnson, who is running the LeakyCon Lit program, which deals with all the literary events.
Best of all, in my opinion, Figment.com will be there with a writing lounge. Figment is everyone's favourite writing site and you better check it out now.
Anyway, there are so many other things also happening that naming them would take longer than I have the energy to write out. And Lily and I are going. If you are ALSO going, please FIND US. I will be tweeting about it on the thing that you tweet on. I hope to also be blogging about it, but I don't know if that's possible.
I can hear some of you crying in the corner and saying that we shouldn't blog about it because you can't go and you'll be jealous, but I don't feel bad. This is the first, and probably last conference I will get to go to, and I want to enjoy it to the best of my ability.
On a non-related note, I'd like to do a giveaway sometime soon, but I can only do that if we have enough followers. Perhaps a bit of LeakyCon swag would tempt you?

Anywho, cheers, and DFTBA!
Love,
Vee

Crepes (part 1)

So I've made crepes 3 times now and had moderate success twice. Unfortunately though, I don't have any pictures and I don't have very many interesting things to say here because crepes are a much better time waster than blog material.

Anyway, the first time I made crepes they were a complete disaster. They were simultaneously undercooked and burned and didn't look very much like crepes. The second time I figured out how to cook them so they are edible and the third time I tested a Belgian crepe recipe. The Belgian crepe recipe is the one I plan on posting; it is a lot easier to use as a beginner though the crepes are eggy-er and the batter is runnier than the crepes you would usually see.

Hopefully I will be able to get pics next time I make crepes and I will put the recipe up soon. Have fun pottering, non-existent readers, I will be posting more soon

Pottermore Update!

While they haven’t announced the exact date, Pottermore has finally gotten specific at when the site is going to be coming to the public. If you weren’t one of the beta-testers, you will get to join Pottermore in early April 2012.

According to their blog, the reason behind the delay was that they needed to create a new platform for the site and that platform is finally up and running. It was also announced that Pottermore is going to be getting some new features in the coming months in response to the feedback from the beta testers.

You can read more about this on the Pottermore insider

Speculation

Anyone who likes Harry Potter enough to even visit this site probably already knows about The New Book. Now that I've finally calmed down enough in my fangirling to write a semi-coherent blogpost, I thought I would go over everything we know about this book and add some speculation of my own.

  • It's being published by Little, Brown Book Group (who also happens to be Jackson Pearce's publisher)
  • The New Book's genre, title, and release date have not yet been announced; we know that the book is going to be targeted at adults though.
  • In response to the numerous questions about her book on twitter, she said: "As you may have heard, I have a new book out later this year. Very different to Harry, although I’ve enjoyed writing it every bit as much"
  • Her official website has been taken down and replaced with a signup sheet for future updates about the book. It is being “refreshed and redesigned and will be relaunched later this spring.”

After looking through several past interviews and statements in hopes of getting a clue of what she is working on, I discovered a few more relevant facts on what she might be working on and am thinking it might be a crime novel. The facts I based this off are

  • She has always wanted to write a crime novel
  • David Shelley, has admitted that he will be working with her directly and is very excited about it. He has edited and published a large amount of successful mystery/crime novels.
  • Andrew Sims from Hypable also caught a few comments by other crime writers about the prospect of her novel being a crime novel. He writes:

“The crime world is all aflutter at the prospect, in any event. “Wouldn’t it be funny if JK Rowling’s first novel for adults turned out to be a crime story set in Edinburgh? My word yes,” tweeted Ian Rankin. “Might explain why she left the neighbourhood (me, McCall Smith, Atkinson near-neighbours) and moved across town … She’s certainly a fan of the traditional whodunit.”

“Nice to see that JK Rowling has such good taste in editors. I guess I’m willing to share David Shelley… Do you think her choice of Mr David means she’s writing a thriller/crime novel?” wondered McDermid, adding: “If Mr David inspires JKR the way he does me, we’re in for something rather tasty.”

In other news, I’m going to be on a medical leave from school until the end of the year. I don’t know how this is going to effect my blogging (or rather not-blogging) yet though. I’m also teaching myself how to make crepes and planning about blogging about my failures (and successes) in that area.

Join Us

For those of you who don't follow the Harry Potter Alliance, they gave Warner Brothers a deadline of New Years Day to prove that they don't buy the chocolate from companies that use child labor. Many of these children have been kidnapped from their home or forced by poverty to work for unfair pay.

Not just does this mean that they are most likely selling unethical chocolate, but also that they are selling it under Harry's name with their chocolate frog cards. Is all of Hermione's work to be in vain? Is this not worse than the enslavement of house elves?

January first has came and went without a response, so HPA is calling for action from Potterheads who don't want Harry's name used on unethical products. I am asking you, my dear inexistent readers, to support these efforts. We can not let this treatment go unnoticed, the oppressed voices gone unheard. While I might not be nearly as eloquent in my persuasions as they were, the point remains the same. We have to fight this unjustness in every way we can. Please join us on the campaign page and spread the word in every way you can.

Happy Holidays,
Victoire

Adieu, Cheri Lecteurs

Dearest, Darlingest, Most Idiotic Miss Lily Evans:
You removed the permissions.
You placed unlawful claims against my loyalty to the light.
You insulted the side on which you said I belonged.
You threatened me.

You're lucky if you ever even get to LeakyCon, and if you do, I'm not sitting on the plane with you, nor am I meeting up with you anywhere.

If any souls are gone, if any lives disappear, if any Dementors are found in the vicinity, it will not be for me. I will not be gone.
-Miss Victoire Delacour Weasley
Former Co-Owner of Hogwarts Kitchens

You are a deatheater, Vee

the best you can do is Bellatrix Lestrange, but you all go in the end. Even if you pull a Snape or a R.A.B. you will still die. Because not a single one of the good Deatheaters (Or reformed deatheaters) survived. And the bad ones are easily conquered which is why we didn't bother with killing them. There will be blood Vee, or at least a few souls sucked out, and it wont be mine.

There Will be Bloodier Blood. Filthy, Muddy blood

That's right. It just got REAL personal.
Miles was before my time. BUT SWEENEY TODD WASN'T! Nor Devil Snare, ditto for Venomous Tentacula.
I am going to find you, take my TWO WANDS with me, and go all "boy who lived" on you. He can't die, folks.

Venomously,
Vee

There will be blood

YOU DELETED MY COMMENT VEE??????????????? THAT IS IT. THIS SHIT JUST GOT PERSONAL VICTOIRE AND IT ISN'T ENDING WELL FOR YOU.

My want is drawn, my machete ready. I will go Miles Davis (was that before your time?) AND Molly Weasley on you.

Some More LeakyCon, and Some More Screaming

Also,

do you realize how completely idiotic rants/rage looks in that silly font you chose? Vee you are truly and idiot.

A few letters

Dear Vee,

If you lock me out then I will kill you. And then i will make a better blog with the same name on a different platform and it will be far awesomer than your failblog and we will steal all of your nonexistent viewers because my blog will be so much more awesome.

Dear Luna,
IF YOU DON'T POST BY THE END OF THE MONTH I AM COMING TO YOUR HOUSE AND MURDERING YOU IN YOUR SLEEP! EXPLAIN YOURSELF! NO ONE CAN BE ABSENT FROM YOUR CO-BLOG FOR THIS LONG WITHOUT REVENGE!

Dear non-existent readers,
I am going to Leakycon2012! I will probably do a lot of blogging about it here (or on my awesome rival blog if it comes down too it) so if you can't go but want to hear about it, keep reading!

Some Screaming and an Idea

HI! It is Vee. Before I actually say things, I want to get the screaming out of the way.
LILY EVANS WHAT THE HELL IF YOU CHANGE THE FONT ONE MORE TIME I'M GOING TO CHANGE THE PASSWORD AND YOU CAN BE A GUEST BLOGGER.
I
MEAN
IT.
I will also change your name to Banana. Yes, I can do that.
Anyway, I had an idea about the giveaways. If we are certain that we have readers (that's you! Comment below to let us know!) we might actually be able to have a giveaway. I know I have A LOT of Harry Potter books, and books related to Harry Potter, and notebooks, and a bookstore, and... Yeah. BUT WE HAVE TO HAVE READERS! PLEASE! We love you. We will love you more if we know you're reading! So, please give us love? Then we might give you prizes.
Love from a very frustrated Vee

Giveaways!

Vee and I are poor people (or at least I am, maybe Vee is being a heartless Deatheater?) so we aren't hosting our own giveaway but luckily I have came across a few Harry Potter people who aren't. Serena Lawless is hosting a Cassandra Clare/HP giveaway with a Signed Copy of Cassandra's book City of Fallen Angels (book 4 in the Mortal Instruments series) and a full set of Harry Potter bookmarks (see Vee, I'm not the only one who thinks HP bookmarks are awesome) If you want to enter Click Here. If I see any more Potter related giveaways I will be sure to post them : )

<3 Evans

Ps. You might notice the fonts changing a lot over the next few posts. I put readability over style (hence the Times New Roman) but Vee just wants them to look pretty (all the curly scripts)

On an Unrelated note...

this is totally unrelated to the blog, but I thought I would share it anyway. It's a set of three videos, that can be watched together or separately about Domestic Violence and Domestic Violence Awareness. They are really good videos that I think everyone should see.

An Apology, Some Bragging, and a (short) Angry Rant

Bonjour! Vee here!
So, sorry I've been so AWOL lately, but 8th grade is INSANE. And I haven't even had a chance to throw some glitter and make it rain on 'em. Okay enough bad Ke$ha jokes (I was listening to Blow! I couldn't help it!) BUT I'VE MISSED ALL YOU READERS THAT I IMAGINE WE HAVE!!!! I LOVE YOU ALL! Um, yeah, my imagination is large.
That was the apology portion, obviously not very interesting. Now for the bragging. BE JEALOUS!
Anyway I finally got my Pottermore email, and got on Pottermore and it is fantastic and you should all be super jealous!
Yes, I lie. That was a phenomenally gigantic lie. POTTERMORE SUCKS. I can't believe I waited with bated breath to get in, crying sometimes when my hopes were raised and then dashed upon the bottom of the Black Lake. And then I got in, and I was crying for happiness. And then I was bored. Oh my God it's hardly fun at all. Yes, it's fun to get a wand (Hawthorn, 10 3/4 inches, unicorn tail hair core, unyielding.) and you can't beat getting sorted (RAVENCLAW, WOOT WOOT!) but so far, it's HARD! And more often than not, you can't even go on!
Due to overwhelming demand, you cannot access Pottermore right now.
You know what?! You can't access Pottermore right now because some of the people running it seem to be incompetent fools. Yes, I am pissed. Yes, I am bored. So, no, you shouldn't be so goshdarn excited about Pottermore (Gosh darn was going to be something stronger but I don't know who is reading this).

Now.... I had something else I wanted to say, but it has completely and utterly slipped my mind-Oh!! Right! Angry rant!
It is short.
SOMEONE CHANGED THE FONT ON THE HOMEPAGE!!!!!!! I WILL BE OUT FOR REVENGE (aka blood!) UNTIL THEY CHANGE IT BACK!!
I refuse to change it myself, since I didn't change it.
That's basically it, although we have some sad news.
Luna, our dear partner in unmanaged mischief, has been more MIA than the rest of us, so until further notice, it will only be Lily and my blog. BUT WE WANT LUNA TO KNOW WE MISS HER AND LOVE HER AND HOPE SHE COMES BACK!
That's really it.
Stay Magical!
Love,
Vee

We've kinda stopped posting

School started and I got ridiculously busy (not to mention that I was gone for a month over the summer) so I (Evans) haven't posted in a while. Sorry about that.
Anyway, since I decided that we should have at least one post from September, I’m making this to catch you up on our very potter lives. Vee got her Pottermore email (finally) and was sorted into Ravenclaw. I’ll make her post more information later (because I’m sure you want to hear her brag about how she got into Pottermore and you didn’t) I reread the series yet another time and have started making potter bookmarks. They either have a picture on one side and an explanation on the other. I’ve made character, spell and magical animal bookmarks. I might post some pictures soon if I have time.
I’ll try to get some recipes up to fill in the cooking side of this website soon but I’m not sure exactly when.

Note from Vee

Good morning!
This is Vee.
I wanted to inform you all that I will not be posting further until I receive my Pottermore email.
As you can infer from that last, I have still not received it.
It should be coming soon.
But until then,
I won't be here.
I know you are asking where will I be.
The answer:
Moping alone in a corner without my Pottermore email, writing copious amounts of essays and completing a math packet.
Don't you wish you were me?
Love,
Vee
